About:
Scott Smith , Phoenix, AZ.I grew up in El Paso, TX. and started playing the drums at age 16. My influences at the time was bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Queensryche & Rush. I never had any drum lessons. When I turned 21, I moved to Phoenix AZ. and joined several cover-bands playing 80's and 90's rock. I would do lot's of different drum-solos during shows and the name "MachineGun" was given to me by friends.
In 2001, I was published in Modern Drummer Magazine and started to take drumming more seriously. I started listening to bands like Tool, Godsmack, Lamb Of God & Slipknot. In 2006 I jumped on YouTube and launch my channel playing covers to all the bands I loved to play, but keeping my own style and showing some originality on each song.
I was recognized by several professional bands like Disturbed, Static-X, Anthrax & Trivium. I was really honored when I got an email from DISTURBED and they made a "Personal Video Review" on YouTube about my Drum-Cover playing their song "Ten Thousand Fists". A week later my video jumped to 300,000 Views. Shortly after that Scott Ian from Anthrax contacted me & featured my Videos at NoneLouder.Com.
Now after a 1 year break with an Arizona metal band BLACK METAL BOX.....I'm back! I will continue to make new videos add to the collection of *My Tribute To Awesome Drummers* on my YouTube channel! Stay Tuned!

Judas Priest - Painkiller - DRUMS Covered by MachineGunSmith Drummer
My Tribute to Scott Travis drummer from Judas Priest - Painkiller - DRUM Cover, by MachineGunSmith off the Painkiller Album.
Travis had always wanted to be the drummer of Judas Priest. As a young teen, he had often thought about setting up his drumkit in the parking lot at the Hampton Coliseum in hopes that the band would notice him as they rolled through with their tour bus. He finally decided to wait out back of the arena, and hand the band a tape of his playing. Priest still had Holland, so nothing ever came out from the encounter. When Holland did leave Judas Priest in 1989, Jeff Martin heard about it through his friendship with Rob Halford. Martin called up Travis one day and said "Guess who needs a drummer." Travis auditioned for the vacant position and in 1989 got the job, thus becoming the first non-Briton to play the legendary Birmingham heavy rock monster.
